PTO Land Cruiser LJ73 to power mechanical winch

Hello Finnish Land Cruiser enthusiasts,

I'm a 22 year old man from Belgium, so I can't speak Finnish. I hope English will do?

I'm the owner of a 1980 BJ40 and a 1990 LJ73. On the BJ40 I have a mechanical winch, which works great. I would love to have a similar winch setup on my LJ73. I would use the winch and the driveshaft of a BJ40 mechanical winch (with some adjustment and welding it should be possible).

The problem is that here in Belgium, the J7-Landcruisers never came with a PTO (power take off) on the gearbox. This part is unfindable in my country. I have seen that many Finnish LJ70s are equipped with a PTO on the gearbox.

I already found entire gearboxes on Finnish second hand car parts website, but never a seperate PTO.

My question: What is the price in Finland of a PTO for a 1990 Landcruiser LJ70/LJ73? Does anyone have this part lying around?

Hi,

English is ok in here. In finland it is common to have PTO because of our taxation.
And now days many have been taken that away and yes i belive that you can find it from finland

PTO = "voiman ulosotto" in Finnish. Perhaps possible to find with that word also

Also HJ60 and HJ61 pto should fit straight to that transfer case.
Lots of those cars in finland.
I would prefer 2-way pto like you got in 40 series.
Our LJ and later HJ cars have only 1-way pto, so you cant change direction at pto stick, only by gears...

BJ45lava: You mean a PTO of a BJ4 with a 5-speed gearbox? Such PTO's are even rarer than a PTO of a LJ or HJ in Belgium. Do you have any idea what sort of price I'm looking at for a one-way PTO out of a LJ70 in Finland?

You can get those for 50-150€ here easily, every 40, 60, 70 series here got one on it, so those are almost waste metal here.

I think that one from 75 or 61 series rotates other direction than 40 series pto, but that is not problem.

Thank you for the information. That's a very good price.
I have calculated that shipping costs of a PTO from Finland to Belgium are around € 50 (by regular post). So if anyone has this part and wants to sell it, please contact me. Of course I will pay the price of the PTO + the shipping costs to Belgium in advance.
